The Santa Monica Pier Centennial celebration continues Saturday, May 16th, with “Sideshow at the Pier,” the largest gathering of circus artists, vaudevillians, contortionists, aerialists, jugglers, acrobats and performance artists in the pier’s 100 years.
The free event is scheduled from 2 to 8 p.m. on the pier’s parking deck.
Among the scheduled performers are hula-hoop artist Mat Plendl, pancake juggler Scot Nery and busker Masonius Max, who will execute body-bending contortions. Former two-time world champions in acrobatic gymnastics, Realis, will perform intricate hand to hand balancing, and the Silk Sisters will perform aerial artistry.
The Quiddlers, who have brought their unique performances of “Micro Jackson” to nationwide TV audiences on “America’s Got Talent” will join comic juggler extraordinaire Frank Olivier and dozens of other skilled acts during the Sideshow at the Pier.
Another of the acts includes master of ceremonies/ringmaster Philip Solomon, with help from the Stilt Circus and the Funhouse Band.
