The Santa Monica College Concert Band will perform its final concert of the 2004-2005 season at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 5th, at the Santa Monica College Concert Hall, 1900 Pico Blvd., Santa Monica. Tickets are a $10 donation.

This concert will be the band’s annual “Pops” concert.

The band will be performing film music from the late Elmer Bernstein and Jerry Goldsmith, along with the music of John Williams.

The music from soundtracks to movies such as The Great Escape, First Knight, Rudy, Star Trek, Hook, E.T., Indiana Jones, and Harry Potter will be performed.

The concert will also feature a version of George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, featuring Anne-Lise Longuemare on piano.

The band’s wind setting is in line with Gershwin’s original orchestration, says conductor Kevin McKeown.

The conductor is not the Kevin McKeown who serves on the Santa Monica City Council.
