$500,000 grant for Madison performing arts project
The Madison Project at Santa Monica College received a $500,000 grant from the Ahmanson Foundation for construction of the college visual and performing arts center on the college Madison Campus at 11th Street and Santa Monica Boulevard in Santa Monica.
“We are so thrilled to be receiving this most generous gift from the Ahmanson Foundation for the capital campaign of the Madison Project,” said project director Dale Franzen.
“Having the support and trust of this very prestigious foundation is crucial to any capital effort for an arts and education project,” she said.
Santa Monica College is currently building the $30.78 million, 541-seat center, which will be home to student programs and professional music, theater and dance troupes.
Designed by Zecchetto Architects of Santa Monica, the center is scheduled for completion in 2007 and is funded by public and private funds.
