Santa Monica College is seeking applications for two vacancies on the Citizens Bond Oversight Committee.
The committee oversees the implementation of Measure U, the 2002 bond measure that is funding capital improvement projects at the college.
In spring 2002, the $160 million bond measure was approved by 70 percent of voters from Santa Monica and Malibu.
Measure U is funding building replacements, seismic retrofitting, safety and technology upgrades and other projects.
One vacancy on the oversight committee is for a representative from a taxpayer organization and the other vacancy is for a student of the college.
To qualify for an appointment to the oversight committee, an applicant must be at least 18 years old, cannot be a college employee or official, and cannot be a vendor, contractor or consultant to the college.
A screening committee will review all applications and recommend applicants to the college’s Board of Trustees, which will make final appointments to the oversight committee.
The application deadline is Monday, June 28th.
Applications are available by calling (310) 434-4402 or going online at www.smc.edu
