The Santa Monica Elks and the Jack Showers Foundation have honored winners of a drug awareness essay contest, a drug awareness video contest, and a soccer shootout.

Essay contest winners were Ruhi Bhalla, fourth grade; Juan Carlos Ruiz, fifth grade; and Lauren St. John, sixth grade.

A special essay written by 15-year-old Gabriella Koenig was also presented. Koenig traveled to Mexico with the Santa Monica Rotary Club to build houses for the less fortunate families.

Winners of the video contest were Kelly Wong, writer; Spice Walker, producer; Emilie O’Neil, director and actors Chasin Bennett, Eran Bennett, Kamari Carter, Sky Krohen, Marie Perez, Tyler Anderson, and Diego Aguirre.

Awards were presented to Aaron Young, M. E. Raco, Kendra Moore, Dominique Holland, Armando Diaz, Cassandra Black, and Grady Sain for their support of Elks drug awareness programs.

Soccer Shootout winners were Ruben Rades, first place; Jack Lim, second place; and Jeremiah Hunt, third place in the older division for 11 to 13 year olds.

In the younger division for eight to ten year olds, winners were Ricky Alba, first place; Alija Lee, second; and Dionte Willias, third.
