One of the really fun events of the year will be held Thursday, May 12th, when the City of Santa Monica and the Bayside District Corp., which manages the Third Street Promenade, sponsor the 13th annual Senior Day on the promenade.

The event includes a free movie, a $1.75 lunch, dancing and all sorts of social activities for folks 50 years and older.

You do not have to be a resident of Santa Monica to participate. See more details in our Community Calendar, page 10.

MUSELLA LEAVING — John Musella leaves his post as press secretary to Supervisor Don Knabe next month to take on a public relations position with KB Homes. John will have a shorter commute but promises we’ll see him as KB Homes starts up its loft project in Playa Vista.

VIET TRAN NOMINATED — Viet Tran, who recently was local rep for Los Angeles Mayor James Hahn, has moved to the City of Riverside and been nominated by the Riverside mayor to the Riverside City Airport Commission.

Tran will be interviewed for the position next week. The Riverside City Council is expected to approve city board and commission nominations Tuesday, May 3rd, or soon thereafter.

Tran did a fine job as emcee of last Sunday’s tribute to Lance Lipscomb.

Fans of the former Westchester/LAX-Marina del Rey Chamber of Commerce honorary mayor and community supporter filled the Bayview Room of the Marina del Rey Marriott to honor Lipscomb and benefit the Airport Marina Counseling Service.

PASSOVER WISHES — We extend our best wishes to our Jewish readers for a meaningful and rewarding Passover, which begins at sunset Friday, April 22nd.

The eight-day observance is highlighted by two Seders, elaborate family dinners, that will be held Friday and Saturday evenings.
