The recently completed Athletics-Kinesiology-Dance Complex at Santa Monica College has been awarded a “Gold Nugget” for architectural design, which was sponsored by Pacific Coast Builders Conference and Builder, a national magazine for the housing industry.
The complex is a $2 million glass and steel building overlooking the college’s Corsair Field football stadium.
Santa Monica College’s complex competed with projects from 14 states as well as projects from foreign countries that border the Pacific Ocean.
The 7,500-square-foot complex won the award for “Best Commercial/Industrial Project.”
Caldwell Architects, based in Marina del Rey, designed the complex, which was completed last summer.
The complex features 23 offices, a conference room, a reception area, a workroom with computers and telephones, a lunch room and a copy room.
