Santa Monica College will move its student shuttle bus parking lot from the Santa Monica Airport to Santa Monica State Beach Lot #5 on Barnard Way, south of Ocean Park Boulevard in Santa Monica Monday, August 29th.
Shuttle bus lot hours at the beach will be 6:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays.
Under the Santa Monica College student parking program, the City of Santa Monica will issue free parking permits for the beach lot to students on the first day students use the lot.
Participating students will have to present Santa Monica College student identification and a copy of their class schedules.
Students will not receive free parking at the beach lot Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays or holidays.
Any Santa Monica College student or satellite campus student can use the beach lot free during the permitted time period.
The Santa Monica Airport shuttle bus lot on Airport Avenue will remain open until November.
In November, construction will begin on a new city Airport Park recreation space.
After the November closure, the airport parking lot will be open during the day only for students enrolled in classes at the college’s new Bundy Campus adjacent to Airport Avenue.
Bundy Campus students receive free parking at the airport lot and have access to the Bundy Campus by using a temporary pedestrian pathway on nearby Donald Douglas Loop South.
Santa Monica College students not attending the Bundy Campus may use the airport lot, but they will have to purchase parking permits and will not be allowed to park in the airport lot during the day.
The airport lot is open to all Santa Monica College students from 4 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Fridays.
Shuttle buses between the college and the beach and airport lots run every 15 minutes and also take students to the college main campus at 1900 Pico Blvd., Santa Monica.
