Softball players Michelle Aver of the Western League champion Venice High School Gondoliers and Amanda Steele of the Westchester High School Comets have been selected for this year’s All-Los Angeles City Section Championship Division second team.
Aver, a sophomore who played at both catcher and third base, helped lead Venice to an undefeated league record of 10-0.
Venice finished the season with an overall record of 13-9, after losing 17-0 to El Camino Real High School in the second round of the City Section playoffs.
Aver ended the season with a batting average of .426, 29 hits, 29 RBIs (runs batted in) and five home runs.
Steele, a junior who played both infield and pitcher, helped lead Westchester to a second place finish in the Western League with a league record of 7-3.
Westchester finished the season with an overall record of 12-14, after losing 5-0 to Sylmar High School in the second round of the City Section playoffs.
Steele ended the season with a .754 batting average, 43 hits, 19 RBIs, five home runs and 31 stolen bases.
She also had a 2.188 ERA (earned run average) and 21 strikeouts as a pitcher for the Comets.
