L.A. Louver gallery of Venice is presenting an exhibition of new works by Los Angeles-based artist Tony Berlant through Aug. 28.
L.A. Louver is located at 45 North Venice Blvd. in Venice. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Berlant uses a broad spectrum of materials to create works inspired by the vineyards and gardens of Chateau La Coste, located outside of Aix-en-Provence, France, a gallery spokesperson explains.
“My new work is about pacing and focused selection, both visually and psychologically,” the artist says.
In this new series, Berlant combines altered photographs, printed onto wood panel with metal collage and painting to illustrate landscapes.
Out of the landscapes Berlant conjures psychological territories he describes as “mindscapes,” says the gallery spokesperson.
Through his landscape works, Berlant attempts to follow the tradition of Monet, Couret and Cezanne.
