Approximately 170 spinners will pedal on exercise bicycles for three hours at four YAS fitness centers, including one in Venice, Sunday, June 3 to raise funds for ThinkCure!

The Third Annual YAS-a-thon will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. at YAS Fitness, 1101 Abbot Kinney Blvd. in Venice and other facilities in Silver Lake, Costa Mesa and downtown Los Angeles.

To participate, each rider has raised or contributed a minimum of $1,000 per bike. Organizers of the event say they are well on their way to raising over $175,000 for ThinkCure!, a community based nonprofit organization that raises funds to accelerate collaborative research to cure cancer.

The money raised during the YAS-a-thon weekend will go directly to funding research focused on new, effective treatments for a range of cancers including brain cancer, leukemia and lymphoma.

A pre-ride kick-off celebration will be held at the Venice YAS studio June 2. Registration for riders has been maxed out at 170, but organizers are still recruiting new sponsors and kick-off party attendees.

“This is going to be our best year yet. I am honored that so many people are riding with us on June 3 and working so hard to help achieve our goal of raising over $175,000 to help cure cancer,” said YAS founder and cancer survivor Kimberly Fowler, who is also a board member of ThinkCure! “We’re already at the limit for riders, but there are so many other ways to support our fundraising efforts – sponsor a rider, join us at the silent auction and bid on some of our great prizes, or simply make a donation to ThinkCure! We appreciate every bit of help.”
