The St. Joseph Center of Venice raised more than $340,000 at its 24th annual Dinner Dance and Auctions gala at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in downtown Los Angeles Saturday, May 9th.

The event’s theme, “Metamorphosis,” was illustrated by award presentations for community service to Wildwood School and “Hope Through Empowerment” to Scott and Sunday Taylor, who all have nurtured the center’s transformation as a multi-service agency, a center spokesperson said. The Special Recognition Award honoree was Norma Gallardo.

“The evening was a wonderful celebration, both of the work done by people who have dedicated themselves to our mission and of our clients’ success,” St. Joseph Center executive director Va Lecia Adams said.

“Each honoree is an outstanding example of commitment to change for the better.”

The Dinner Dance helps support the center’s ten programs, which provide services such as job training, affordable childcare, supplemental groceries and hot meals for 6,000 working poor and homeless families and individuals to achieve greater health, stability and self-sufficiency.
