State Assemblyman Ted Lieu of Torrance, who represents much of the local area south of Santa Monica, has received the Delbert Wong Distinguished Service Award from the Southern California Chinese Lawyers Association, considered the oldest Asian American bar association in California.
Lieu was presented the award Friday, March 28th, at the association’s 33rd anniversary banquet in recognition of his support and representation of the Asian and Pacific Islander American community in the State Legislature, according to the association.
“I am honored to be receiving this award from such a great organization,” said Lieu. “It is humbling to be recognized by a group who does so much for both the legal and Asian-American community.”
The Southern California Chinese Lawyers Association annually awards dozens of fellowships and scholarships to provide financial assistance to future community leaders. Incidentally, Lieu says he met his wife, Southern California attorney Betty Chim, through the association. She once served as president of the association.
