Television journalist Val Zavala, a former anchor of the KCET series Life & Times, will be the guest speaker at the Westchester Mental Health Guild’s annual meeting Wednesday, April 30th.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at the Covenant Presbyterian Church, 6323 West 80th St. in Westchester.

Zavala plans to give a speech titled “Staying Level-Headed in a Fearful World.” For 16 years she worked on KCET’s Life & Times and served as its anchor or co-anchor from 1999 through 2007.

Over the years, Life & Times won more than 25 Los Angeles area Emmy Awards and 35 Golden Mikes. Zavala is currently vice president of news and public affairs for KCET.

Admission is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided after the meeting.

The Westchester Mental Health Guild is a major supporter of Airport Marina Counseling Service, a nonprofit community clinic founded in 1961 whose mission isÝto provide excellent and affordable community-based mental health services, as well as to serve as a training institute for pre-licensed mental health clinicians.
