DYLAN BRODY, an award-winning playwright, comedic storyteller and author, will perform his one-man show “More Arts/Less Martial” at a Beyond Baroque event benefiting the non-profit Rx Laughter.

Comedic storyteller Dylan Brody will perform his acclaimed one-man show “More Arts/ Less Martial,” benefiting the Rx Laughter charity for ill children and teens, at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23 at Beyond Baroque, 681 Venice Blvd. in Venice.
An award-winning playwright, storyteller and author, Brody will take his audience on a poignant and hilarious journey from a childhood of bullied insecurity to an adulthood of martial arts study and personal growth, event organizers say.
“When I put together ‘More Arts/Less Martial,’ I wanted to explore and to share my healing process through humor,” Brody said. “That this show might then be used to support humor as part of a healing process seems a miracle of serendipity. If I can raise funds for a great cause and get some stage time – well, that’s just a win-win.”
All proceeds will go to benefit Rx Laughter, a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing comedy and humor therapy into hospitals and mental health clinics to benefit children and teens with life-threatening illnesses. Brody has waived his customary performance fee and Beyond Baroque is donating the use of its space for the event.
In addition to his story-telling CDs released through Stand Up! Records, Brody contributes to numerous media outlets, including The Huffington Post and John Rabe’s “Off-Ramp” on KPCC radio.
Rx Laughter was founded in 1998 by veteran former primetime network executive Sherry Hilber. The non-profit works closely with clinical experts, artists and the media industry on a variety of projects, including improv workshops for families of critically ill children and comedy therapy workshops for teens facing addiction.
Tickets for Brody’s show are $15 for the general public and $10 for students with identification. Doors open at 3 p.m.
