The Santa Monica College (SMC) Art Department is presenting “Water Project,” an exhibit of student works that incorporate the life-giving liquid through Saturday, April 3rd.

“Water Project” is on view at the Pete and Susan Barrett Art Gallery at the SMC Performing Arts Center, Santa Monica Boulevard and 11th Street.

The exhibit is part of SMC’s yearlong examination of water, the theme for the college’s ambitious global citizenship initiative. Water is playing a central role in several courses at SMC, as well as for lectures, music performances and dance concerts, a college spokesperson says.

In the Art Department, most professors have incorporated water into their syllabus for at least one project. Several have also showed their students the documentary “Flow: How Did a Handful of Corporations Steal Our Water?” and assigned projects to them.

Gallery hours are noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
