Tiana Tucker, a 16-year-old Playa del Rey resident, won honorable mention for painting at the 2006 Music Center Spotlight Awards Visual Arts competition. She is in 11th grade at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts.

More than 630 high school students submitted original artwork for the Music Center of Los Angeles County competition.

Winners in five categories were announced Monday, March 20th.

Artworks by 30 semifinalists were exhibited at the Bobbie Greenfield Gallery at Bergamot Station in Santa Monica.

The winners will be presented with trophies during a Music Center Spotlight Awards ceremony at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in downtown Los Angeles Saturday, April 29th.

The Spotlight Awards program was established in 1988 and has become a nationally-recognized educational program for performing arts and visual arts.
