Two men wanted for their alleged connection to separate armed robbery incidents in Santa Monica earlier this year were arrested, one by Santa Monica police and the other by the County Sheriff’s Department, police said.

Santa Monica police detectives arrested Sergio Abrego, 23, of Palmdale, June 9th, for armed robbery, residential burglary and parole violation.

Abrego was arrested for his alleged connection to an armed robbery that occurred at 6 p.m. May 29th, in the 200 block of Bay Street in Santa Monica, police said.

Evidence recovered at the site of the residential burglary led to the arrest of Abrego, police said.

The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office filed armed robbery charges against Abrego June 13th.

SUSPECT IN OTHER ROBBERY — Santa Monica police detectives received information June 15th regarding a robbery suspect who had been taken into custody by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

This suspect was apparently arrested during an in-progress robbery at a Walgreens drugstore in Lakewood, according to Santa Monica police Lt. Frank Fabrega.

Santa Monica detectives spoke to the suspect, who is identified as Cecil Jerome Darby.

During the interview, Darby allegedly made statements implicating himself in a Santa Monica Walgreens robbery that occurred at 12:50 a.m. June 1st, in the 1900 block of Wilshire Boulevard, police said.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed 13 felony counts of armed robbery against Darby June 23rd, for armed robberies that were allegedly committed throughout the Los Angeles County area, police said.
