The fifth annual Taste of Santa Monica will give local residents a chance to sample the fare of up to 40 local restaurants from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, September 17th, in an ocean view setting on the Santa Monica Pier, ocean end of Colorado Avenue, Santa Monica.

The event will also feature chef demonstrations and live music.

Tickets are $40 for adults and $10 for children ages four to ten years old, and includes all food samples. Beverages are not included.

The event is organized by the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce.

In addition to the food showcase, Young’s Market and the Estates Group are hosting a wine garden featuring 30 to 40 varietals from 15 different wineries. Wine garden tickets are an additional $15.

Chef and culinary demonstrations will take place throughout the day both to “dazzle” the public with flashy culinary skills and to give basic gastronomic advice for novice chefs to use at home in their kitchens, organizers say.

“We have some tantalizing presentations and charismatic chefs slated for the Demo Stage,” says Kathryn Dodson, president of the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce. “I advise all home chefs to bring their notepads and cameras.”

Among the list of local participating restaurants are Rusty’s Surf Ranch, Bubba Gump Shrim Co., El Cholo Mexican Restaurant, Le Merigot Hotel, Monsoon Cafe, Hooters, Il Fornaio, La Vecchia Cucina and Border Grill.
