WOMAN ALLEGEDLY STRUCK SEVERAL TIMES
Police were called to the 300 block of the Santa Monica Pier at 9:11 p.m. Sunday, September 5th, regarding an assault and battery that had just occurred.
The victim told police that three men struck her several times in the upper body because she told the men to stop yelling at her.
The three men were arrested at the scene and taken to Santa Monica Jail and charged with assault and battery.
MAN CLAIMS WAVES FORCED HIM NEAR WOMAN
A man was arrested at around 4:45 p.m. Sunday, September 5th, after a woman complained to a lifeguard in the 1500 block of the beach that the man had attempted to grab her body while she was swimming in the ocean.
The lifeguard called police who spoke to the victim.
The victim said that the man acted as though the waves were forcing him closer to her and eventually the man attempted to grab the woman after a strong wave.
The victim told police that she got out of the water and proceeded to observe the suspect approach other women in the water.
The suspect was arrested for sexual battery and taken to the Santa Monica Jail, where he was booked.
POLICE SAY THEY RECOVER NEEDLES ON SUSPECT
Police were called to the 1200 block of Ozone Avenue at 1:45 a.m. Sunday, September 5th, regarding someone who was causing a disturbance.
Officers on the scene spoke to a man who said that he was pounding on his ex-girlfriend’s door because he wanted to speak with her.
Upon frisking the man, officers discovered two hypodermic syringes, police said.
The man was arrested and taken to Santa Monica Jail.
AFTER KNIFE IS PULLED
A suspect was arrested at around 4:20 p.m. Monday, September 6th, in the 1600 block of Ocean Front Walk after a four-inch folding knife was found in his possession, police said.
Police spoke to a witness who said that the suspect held the knife in the direction of a victim who then fled.
The suspect was arrested for attempted assault.
WOMAN TRYING TO STEAL THE PRIZE LANDS IN JAIL
A woman was arrested at around 2:35 p.m. Wednesday, September 8th, in the 300 block of the Santa Monica Pier after she allegedly removed a stuffed animal from a gaming booth that was closed.
Police say that the woman was caught on a surveillance camera taking the stuffed animal from the booth.
The woman was arrested for petty theft and taken to Santa Monica Jail.
A man walked into Encino State Bank in the 700 block of Wilshire Boulevard, at around 1:20 p.m. Monday, September 20th, handed a teller a note demanding money, received the money and walked away with the undisclosed amount of cash.
Santa Monica police detectives spoke to the bank teller who described the man as an African American, approximately 35 years old, about six-feet-tall, medium build, with dreadlocks, a beard, wearing a blue shirt and jeans, and carrying a construction hat.
“The teller did the appropriate thing in this situation,” said Michael Lawrence, branch manager.
Lawrence said that an alarm had not been engaged until the suspect left the bank. The investigation is ongoing.
