BOOKED ON SUSPICION OF RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
Police were called to an apartment complex in the 1300 block of Franklin Street at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 2nd, where witnesses in the complex told them that they saw a suspect walking through the complex and looking through windows of several apartment units. Police detained the suspect a block away but did not find any signs of forced entry at the units.
The suspect, who allegedly had prior arrests for robbery and theft and was a registered sex offender, was arrested and booked for burglary investigation.
ALLEGEDLY TRIED TO HIT MAN TAKING PICTURES
A man in the 1300 block of Ocean Avenue told police at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 2nd, that he was in Palisades Park taking pictures of the veteran’s memorial when a suspect with a cane yelled at the man, claiming that he was taking pictures of him.
The suspect then allegedly attempted to hit the man with the cane and fled on a bus.
The man called police, who stopped the bus at Santa Monica Boulevard and Bundy Drive and detained the suspect with the cane.
Police arrested the suspect and booked him for assault with a deadly weapon.
SUSPECT DETAINED FOR ALLEGED ASSAULT
Police were called to the 1300 block of Palisades Park at 3:40 p.m. Sunday, March 30th, where a woman told them that she recognized a suspect as someone who allegedly assaulted her on March 16th in the area of Fourth Street and Arizona Avenue.
Police detained the suspect, who allegedly had outstanding warrants, and they submitted a report to the city attorney’s office.
The suspect was not arrested and the case investigation was ongoing.
ALLEGEDLY ASSAULTED EMPLOYEE OVER HOSE
Police were called to an alley in the back of a restaurant in the 1200 block of the Third Street Promenade at 12:55 p.m. Monday, March 31st, where a restaurant employee told them that he was using a water hose in the alley when a suspect who was collecting cardboard and putting it in a truck asked to use the hose.
When the employee said no, the suspect allegedly began to fight with him and pulled out a knife, threatening to cut the employee. The suspect then allegedly put down the knife, continued to fight with the employee, and then picked up a stick and hit the employee in the head. The victim did not require medical treatment.
After the fight stopped and the suspect went into his car, the victim picked up the stick and broke out the windows of the suspect’s truck.
The victim then called police, who arrested the suspect and booked him for assault with a deadly weapon.
ARRESTED FOR STEALING ITEMS IN LOADED CART
Police were called to a store in the 3100 block of Wilshire Boulevard at 4:10 p.m. Thursday, April 3rd, where store employees alleged that a suspect entered the store carrying a shopping cart, loaded the cart with more than $400 worth of items and left the store without paying.
Store security personnel detained the suspect outside the store and recovered the shopping cart, which had approximately 150 items inside.
The suspect was arrested and booked for commercial burglary.
