ALLEGEDLY HAD STOLEN ITEMS FROM CAR IN BAG
A man in the 200 block of Pacific Street told police at 7:45 a.m. Sunday, March 25th, that he heard a car alarm sound and when he looked over, he saw a suspect running from a vehicle through an adjacent parking lot.
The man told police that he was inside his residence and saw the suspect allegedly running from the vehicle carrying a red travel bag. A woman also told police that she saw the suspect running.
Based on the suspectís description, an officer who responded to the area found the suspect in the 300 block of Pico Boulevard and detained him.
The suspect was identified by witnesses and police found the red bag he had allegedly been carrying with a pair of gloves, a screwdriver, CDs and sunglasses inside.
Police arrested the suspect and booked him in Santa Monica Jail for probable cause burglary and parole violation.
ARRESTED FOR STEALING CLOTHING FROM STORE
Police were called to a store in the 300 block of Colorado Avenue at 4:15 p.m. Friday, March 23rd, regarding a grand theft investigation.
Store loss prevention officers told police that a suspect entered the store, looked around and went to the menís department, where he removed clothing from a display table.
The suspect then put the clothes over his arm and went up the escalator to another floor, where he allegedly exited the store quickly without paying for the items.
Loss prevention officers detained the suspect outside the store and recovered the clothing items valued at over $800.
Police arrested the suspect and booked him in Santa Monica Jail for grand theft.
ALLEGEDLY RAN OVER MANíS FOOT WITH CAR
Police were called to the 300 block of San Vicente Boulevard at 10:40 a.m. Friday, March 23rd, regarding an assault with a deadly weapon investigation.
A man who works for a moving company told police that a company truck was parked in the alley and a woman who was in her car tried to get past the van.
The woman honked her horn to get the truck driver to move the van, but when the driver told the woman to go around the van, she allegedly ran over his foot with her vehicle.
The man called police and after the woman parked her car and came back, she was detained by officers.
Police arrested the woman and booked her in Santa Monica Jail for assault with a deadly weapon.
BOOKED FOR TAKING LEATHER COAT IN STORE
Police were called to a store in the 1200 block of the Third Street Promenade at 12:10 p.m. Monday, March 19th, where a grand theft was reported.
Store employees told police that on March 16th at 7:20 p.m., they noticed that a hanger for a leather jacket was empty, with the security wires cut.
A suspect had allegedly stolen the leather jacket, valued at $575 from the store.
Police reviewed video surveillance and saw the suspect allegedly take the jacket from the sales rack, place it under his arm and leave the store without paying.
Officers recognized the suspect when he was in the 1200 block of Third Street on March 23rd and they arrested him.
The suspect was booked in Santa Monica Jail for burglary.
ALLEGEDLY BROKE INTO GARAGE STORAGE AREA
A man in the 800 block of 15th Street told police at 12:45 a.m. Sunday, March 25th, that he was at home when he heard a noise coming from the subterranean garage.
The man saw a suspect allegedly standing next to the storage area with the storage door open and he yelled at the suspect, who was carrying a backpack.
The man then walked up to the suspect, who allegedly attempted to hit the man with the backpack and then fled.
Police were called and they detained the suspect in the 1300 block of Montana Avenue.
The suspect, who was identified by the man, was arrested and booked in Santa Monica Jail for burglary.
SUSPECT BOOKED FOR CARJACKING VEHICLE
A man in the 200 block of Beach Avenue told police at 2:45 a.m. Tuesday, March 27th, that he was at home when he heard his car motor being turned on.
The man looked outside and saw a suspect allegedly inside his vehicle with the engine running. The man asked the suspect if he could get his belongings out of the car but the suspect allegedly said he would give the man the car back if he gave him $500 and an iPod.
After the man told the suspect to meet him at a liquor store at Main Street and Ocean Park Boulevard, he called police, who saw the suspect allegedly driving in the 100 block of Ocean Park.
Police arrested the suspect and booked him in Santa Monica Jail for carjacking.
ARRESTED FOR FIGHTING WITH BOUNCERS AT BAR
Police were called to a bar in the 3100 block of Santa Monica Boulevard at 1:20 a.m. Saturday, March 24th, regarding an assault with a deadly weapon investigation.
Bar security guards told police that the suspect had too much to drink inside the bar and was asked to leave, but he refused.
When bar security tried to escort the man outside the bar, he allegedly began to fight with them and took a small drinking glass and broke it over the head of one of the security guards.
The security guard was not injured.
Police arrested the man and booked him in Santa Monica Jail for assault with a deadly weapon.
