ARRESTED FOR STEALING BOOKS FROM COMIC BOOK STORE
Police were called to a comic book store in the 500 block of Santa Monica Boulevard at 3:35 p.m. Friday, July 13th, where store employees alleged that a suspect entered the store, took three books from the magazine display rack, walked to a section of the store and when he apparently thought no one was looking, put the books underneath his jacket to conceal them.
The suspect then walked around the store and allegedly left without paying.
The books were valued at $62.94.
Police arrested the suspect and booked him for petty theft.
BOOKED FOR CONSPIRACY
AND COMMERCIAL BURGLARY
Police were called to a store in the 300 block of Wilshire Boulevard at 5:10 p.m. Tuesday, July 10th, employees told them that they observed three suspects inside a vehicle and two of them got out and walked into the store.
The two suspects grabbed a cell phone valued at $600 and one of them then allegedly ran out of the store with the phone. A store employee chased after the suspect and while the other suspect was still in the store, another employee tried to detain him but was allegedly punched in the face by the second suspect.
The third suspect was seen driving in the car down the street but responding officers detained him. The other two suspects were not apprehended.
The driver was arrested and booked in Santa Monica Jail for burglary and conspiracy.
ALLEGEDLY PUNCHED WOMAN IN THE FACE DURING ARGUMENT
Police were called to the 1800 block of Ocean Avenue at 3 a.m. Friday, July 13th, where a woman told them that she had been in an argument with a man she knew, who allegedly punched her in the face and fled.
Officers detained the man in the 1700 block of Ocean Avenue and he was identified.
The suspect was arrested and booked in Santa Monica Jail for assault and battery.
2 BOOKED FOR STEALING SEVERAL TANK TOPS FROM A STORE
Police were called to a store in the 1300 block of the Third Street Promenade at 5:50 p.m. Tuesday, July 17th, where store loss prevention officers told them that two suspects entered the store carrying two bags, removed several tank tops and placed them in the bags.
One suspect, who was holding the bag, walked around the store and then left the bags on the floor. The second suspect then allegedly picked up the bags and left the store without paying.
The suspects were detained outside the store by loss prevention officers, who recovered the items.
Police arrested the suspects and booked them in Santa Monica Jail for burglary and conspiracy.
BOOKED FOR STEALING CASH,
ANTIQUE CLASS RING, GOLD CHAIN
A man in the 2500 block of California Avenue told police at 12:50 p.m. Wednesday, July 18th, that he had hired a painting crew and one of the painters went inside the house to use the bathroom.
The man had seen the painter allegedly looking in one of the bedrooms and later found out that an antique class ring with a gold chain and an unknown amount of money were missing after the painting crew left.
The man called police and through a follow-up investigation, officers were able to locate the painter.
The suspect was arrested and booked for burglary.
