Southern California Rapid Transit District announced the extension of its No. 3 line southward along Lincoln Boulevard to the Marina Shopping Center, linking up with the tram service to Fisherman’s Village.


With the approval of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Harbor Patrol initiated a voluntary boat traffic control program May 1st. The program — adding marker bouys to the entrance and main channels to delineate lanes for powerboats and a tacking lane for sailboats — received the full support of the Association of Santa Monica Yacht Clubs and other yachting organizations.


Planning continued on the 15-acre public-use parcel of land and water located at the end of Mindanao Way. The Harbor Commission, in its June meeting, concurred in designating a water site south of Mindanao Way to be leased for a barge mounted Sea Scout base.
