New to the Westside is the emerging community of Playa Vista. This planned community will eventually contain condominiums, million-dollar homes, apartments, shops, jogging trails, parks and a thriving wetland area. Playa Vista has committed to create a community that is sensitive to the environment. The visitor’s center located at the corner of Lincoln and Jefferson Boulevards invites the public to view its interactive model of the project. By creating walkways and environmentally controlled landscaping, Playa Vista has endeavored to create a community that works with nature, not against it. The Ballona Wetlands, once polluted, has been given a new life through the efforts of Playa Vista. The restored marsh is one of the largest native habitats in the country. Visitors can stroll along a path around the wetlands, stopping to read various informational plaques along the way.
