“The wRites of Passion of Philomela Nightingale: A Faerie’s Tale” will be presented by the Santa Monica Playhouse and WordMagic Global at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, February 28th at the playhouse, 1211 Fourth St., Santa Monica.
The one-woman confessional, wRites of Passion, is written and performed by distinguished English linguist Laurel Airica. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English from UC-Berkeley and a master’s degree in spiritual psychology.
Airica’s wRites of Passion is a selection of excerpts from the true-life tale of Philomela Nightingale, who takes a journey into the mundane plane, she says.
Airica shares her archetypal wRites of Passion in the elemental elfin tongue of rhythmic, rhyming, lyrical, light-woven verse, spoken in sensuous, musical syllables.
Audience members are left in no doubt that faeries are real; that they are living among us — disguised as ordinary humans; and that they have chosen to sacrifice their wings — to help all mortals transcend, Airica says of the performance.
The show’s artistic director is
Paul Duddridge.
Admission is $15, ages 15 and up.
