Boat parade winners in the Illuminated Boat Parade and Contest of Tokyo Bay and in a boat parade in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, will be in Marina del Rey to help judge the 43rd Annual Holiday Boat Parade, which will be held in the Marina del Rey main channel Saturday, December 10th.

Last year, a winner’s exchange with the Fort Lauderdale “Winterfest” Boat Parade was established, joining a similar program the Marina Holiday Boat Parade has with the producers of the Tokyo Bay boat parade.

“Because of relationships developed with Tokyo Bay and Fort Lauderdale, we have created an awareness of our boat parade across the country and around the world,” said Cindy Williams, president of the Marina del Rey Holiday Boat Parade.

“Japanese tourists attended the Marina del Rey Holiday Boat Parade a few years ago and loved it so much they started their own.”

The boat parade judges from Tokyo Bay and Florida will be joined by local boat parade judges.

The Marina Holiday Boat Parade will begin Saturday, December 10th, with a fireworks show kicking off at 5:55 p.m.

The theme of this year’s event is “Star Light, Star Bright.”

“Best Overall” winners of the Marina boat parade will win a trip for two to Tokyo and will stay at the five-star Hotel Nikko to judge the 2006 Illuminated Boat Parade and Contest of Tokyo Bay.

Prize packages will also be awarded to top entries in numerous Marina parade categories.

The boat parade entry fee is $25 for individual and family boats.
