The Santa Monica College (SMC) Emeritus College Art Gallery is presenting “Tools for Transformation,” an exhibit of photographs by 19 students, beginning Thursday, February 25th through March 26th.
An opening reception for the student juried photography exhibition will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. February 25th at the Emeritus College Art Gallery, located on the first floor at 1227 Second
St., Santa Monica. Parking is available next door in Santa Monica Public Parking Structure No. 2.
Comprised of color, black-and-white and digitally manipulated photographs, the exhibit was juried by Santa Monica-based independent curator Robin McCarthy.
The works include those by Cheryl Beychock, who received a first-place prize for her photo “Descarga,” second-place prize winner Lorraine Ginsburg with “The Eiffel Tower” and Virginia Baldioli, who earned third place for “Velodrome.”
The Juror’s Choice award went to Gerald Schneir for “Morning Scene at Varanasi.”
The other student photographers displaying works are Gladys Barsallo, Emil Benko, Arlene Bronner, Cass Cassidy, Bella F. Desser, Jim Gerstley, Alvin Glass, Marjorie Grace-Sayers, Susan Hartman, Charles M. Haskell, Jeffrey Hogue, Betty Kopley, Iris Pogal Malinsky, Doris Power and Alex Vital.
