A 64-year-old transient died six days after he was struck by a vehicle while walking on a Santa Monica street early Feb. 15, police said.
Police were called at 3:20 a.m. to the intersection of Ocean and Arizona avenues in Santa Monica regarding a traffic collision involving a pedestrian, Sgt. Jay Trisler said.
According to a preliminary investigation, the victim, was walking westbound across Ocean Avenue outside of the crosswalk when he was hit by a vehicle, Trisler said.
The driver, a 66-year-old Santa Clarita man, was traveling northbound on Ocean Avenue approaching Arizona at the time of the collision.
The pedestrian was transported in critical condition to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries Feb. 21, Trisler said.
The driver of the vehicle was interviewed by police at the scene of the accident and released, he said.
The Santa Monica Police Department is continuing to investigate the cause of the collision.
