The Los Angeles County Treasurer and Tax Collector is mailing out approximately 230,000 notices of delinquency to taxpayers informing them that their property taxes for the 2005-2006 tax year are delinquent and will default on Saturday, July 1st, after which a $15 redemption fee will be assessed and the taxes will be subject to additional penalties of 1.5 percent per month.

Treasurer Mark Saladino cautions that, in accordance with state law, if the residential property remains in a tax default status for more than five years, the property can be sold at public auction, while non-residential commercial property is subject to public auction if it is tax-defaulted for three or more years.

Any taxpayer wishing to discuss the receipt of a notice or requiring additional assistance can call (888) 807-2111. Information is also available on the Los Angeles County Property Tax Portal at
