Two men sustained non-life threatening injuries in an apparent gang related shooting on the Venice Beach Boardwalk Jan. 4, police said.

The victims, aged 22 and 21, were on the boardwalk at Ocean Front Walk and Market Street at about 6:20 p.m. when they were approached by four African-American suspects, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Larry Park said.

The suspects allegedly asked for gang affiliation and then shot at the victims before fleeing the area, Park said.

The 22-year-old victim, who was shot in the shoulder and back, was transported to a local hospital in stable condition, Park said.

The 21-year-old received a gunshot wound to the arm and was taken to a local hospital in stable condition, the officer said.

No arrests were made and the investigation is ongoing.
