Two women are in serious but stable condition at a local hospital after they were struck by a vehicle while walking in a marked crosswalk at 25th Street and Wilshire Boulevard in Santa Monica Saturday, July 14th, police said.

The women, ages 77 and 81, were in the crosswalk along 25th Street at 10:20 p.m. when they were hit by a 2007 Lexus, driven by an 81-year-old man, which was traveling eastbound on Wilshire Boulevard, Santa Monica police Lt. Alex Padilla said.

The pedestrians were taken to a local hospital.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured in the accident and voluntarily agreed to a blood test, Padilla said.

The Santa Monica Police Department is investigating the cause of the accident.
