If you plan to dress in blue and gold on Saturday, you’ll fit right in at Sports Harbor Bar & Restaurant in Marina del Rey.
Bar owner Rahim Javan, a former UCLA All-American wrestler, will most definitely be backing the Bruins during their annual football battle with crosstown rivals USC.
To mark the occasion, Javan is hanging a four-by-eight-foot blow up photo of the famous 1951 KELP Bus in the bar.
Javan was a member of the prankster KELPS, the school’s first racially and religiously integrated men’s organization whose traveling school-spirit wagon that doubled as an ambassador for the Southern California lifestyle. A 1954 cross-country trip to Madison Square Garden in support of a UCLA basketball team headed by coach John Wooden was covered by Sports Illustrated at the time.
Kickoff time is 5 p.m. at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.
Sports Harbor Bar & Restaurant is at 13484 W. Washington Blvd., Marina del Rey. Call (310) 823-0933 or visit thesportsharbour.com.

“Welcome My Brother” is Rahim’s greeting to one and all, even if they’re not dressed in Blue & Gold. A real World Citizen, so admired the LAPD Pacific Division gave him an Award…Up on the wall next to his NCAA ‘Most Takedowns in fewest Minutes’ Award. A Legend who still walks and talks…Of the 500 KELPS he was the only practicing Zoraster.
