The UCLArts and Healing program is offering an expressive writing workshop locally, titled “Stories We Live, Stories We Tell: Transforming and Healing Ourselves Through Fast Flow Writing.

Using the combined techniques of relaxation, visualization and “Fast Flow Writing” — a method of writing very quickly and allowing an uncensored stream of consciousness — the workshop seeks to help participants access unconscious thoughts, feelings and memories in order to empower, enrich and explore their lives, according to UCLA.

The workshop is at 7:30 p.m. Mondays, March 5th, through April 16th, at the Unurban Coffeehouse, 3301 Pico Blvd., Santa Monica. The seven-class series is $70 or individual sessions are $15.

The program is geared toward adults and high school students. No writing experience is necessary. The course will be taught by Rachel Ballon, a psychotherapist in private practice and writing consultant who has taught writing as a therapeutic tool to mental health professionals and health care practitioners at UCLA, University of California at Irvine, California State University at Northridge, and at conferences.
