Upward Bound House, a community-based, social services agency in Santa Monica, will celebrate the first anniversary of its emergency Family Shelter from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 16 at The Ritz-Carlton Marina del Rey.
The Upward Bound House’s Family Shelter, 12841 W. Washington Blvd. in Culver City, provides 18 units of emergency housing for children and their families, said an Upward Bound spokesman. In the past year, the shelter served 67 families, including 72 adults and 108 children.
The mission of Upward Bound House is to eliminate homelessness among families with children in Los Angeles by providing housing, supportive services and advocacy.
