Whole Foods Market in Venice will hold a drop-off event for a used bicycle donation drive to support Alaffia Sustainable Skin Care’s Bicycles for Education project.

The project aims to empower and encourage secondary school-aged youths in the remote, rural areas of Togo, west Africa to continue their education by supplying them with a bicycle, helmet, and training session on basic bicycle maintenance and safety.

The used bicycle drop-off is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28 at Whole Foods Market, 225 Lincoln Blvd., Venice.

Alaffia will distribute the donation of a functioning adult-sized used bicycle to disadvantaged girls in rural Togo for the 2011-12 school season.
