A variety of improvements such as walkway repairs and new surveillance cameras have been completed in time for summer at Burton Chace Park in Marina del Rey, the county Department of Beaches and Harbors announced.

The park improvement project, which began in February, involved the fixing of sidewalks and walkways to eliminate trip and fall hazards; redesigning of walkways and planters for better pedestrian access under the bridge; replacement of aging vault covers and sprinkler system upgrades to achieve better coverage; and the installation of new bike racks.

Other upgrades included the installation of anchoring systems for summer concert tents to mitigate tripping hazards and damage to underground utility lines, and an above ground electrical cabinet adjacent to the anchoring systems for easy power source access.

New video surveillance cameras were also installed throughout the park, as well as an intercom system for park personnel to remotely activate gates for emergency access.

Officials at Beaches and Harbors, which operates and manages the park, said these improvements will help enhance the park experience for the public. Burton Chace Park is at 13650 Mindanao Way, Marina del Rey.
