Artists from throughout Los Angeles can now submit their designs for a poster contest for the seventh annual Venice Carnevale!, scheduled at the west end of Windward Avenue Saturday, June 6th.

The contest winner will receive a $500 cash prize. All entries must be received no later than Friday, May 1st. Artists are encouraged to ìcapture the essenceî of the Venice artistic community. The idea is to capture the spirit of Venice and this yearís theme ìDreams of the Future,î according to contest organizers.

Posters should be 11 inches by 17 inches. Contestants may use watercolor, markers, ink, charcoal, pencil, crayon, acrylics, oil, computer generated graphics, original photographs or any other recognized artistic medium. The actual original artwork must be submitted mechanically and not as a computer file.

There is a submission entry fee of $10, payable by check or money order. Submissions should be mailed to: Carnevale! Venice Beach 2009 Poster Contest, c/o Dogtown Arts, 55 Rose Ave., Venice, CA 90291. All submissions must include name; home address; home phone; email address and title of poster attached to or written on the back of the poster.ÝSubmissions sent without entry fee will not be considered.

Entries will be judged on originality, inspiration, and creativity. Members of the Carnevale Committee will conduct judging. In the event of a tie, the most creative poster will win.

Carnevale! is being presented in association with the Venice Chamber of Commerce and is funded in part by grants from the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs and the Venice Neighborhood Council.
