The Third Annual Venice Eco-Fest, billed as the Los Angeles area’s biggest free green festival, will feature over 150 eco-conscious and educational exhibitors from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 10.
Over 20,000 people are expected to attend the music and arts eco-festival at the Venice Beach Plaza and recreation area at the end of Windward Avenue, event organizers predict.
A variety of festivities will be held throughout the day including a cooperative community art exhibit, a health and fitness display at the world famous Muscle Beach, an Eco Apparel area, an eco-fashion show, an international vegetarian/vegan food court, skate park demonstrations, and an interactive children’s and family art and play area.
At the center of the Venice Eco-Fest is a solar powered sound stage, with a full program of musical performers, dignitaries, celebrities and environmental speakers. K-Earth DJ Gary Bryan will serve as grand marshal and master of ceremonies, with actors Anjelica Huston, Ed Begley Jr. and Nick Nolte, and City Councilman Bill Rosendahl among the notable speakers.
Another highlight will be the “One Planet” Parade to encourage green travel, including electric cars and carts, bicycles, tricycles, unicycles, skateboards, leg scooters, roller blades, people movers, rickshaws, wagons, and other means of alternative travel (non-fossil fuel), event organizers said.
The more than 150 eco-conscious and educational exhibit booths will offer original products and services provided by local Venice artists, craftspeople and businesses, and provide information about issues such as global warming, habitat destruction, depletion of resources, and toxic pollution of air, soil and water.
In addition, there will be up-to-date information and exhibits on alternative energy, electric cars, and other environmentally friendly vehicles, as well as a variety of green technological displays.
Sponsors include Earth Day Los Angeles, The Wave, K-Earth, Toyota Prius, the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, L.A.
