Venice High School will hold elections for parent and community representatives to fill spots on two governing school councils from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, October 10th, at the school, 13000 Venice Blvd., Mar Vista.

Nominations to the Title I-Compensatory Education Advisory Council and the School Site Council will be held in the faculty cafeteria from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday, October 6th.

“Back to School Night,” in which parents can meet their child’s teachers, follows the nominations hour and will be held from 6 to 8 p.m.

The two councils are comprised of parents, teachers, students, staff, and community representatives.

The councils meet monthly to administer supplemental federal and state funds that are given to the school to support student achievement.

Parent members of the councils must be the parents of current students at Venice High School. Community members of the councils must live in the school’s enrollment district, which includes Venice, Marina del Rey, Mar Vista, and Playa Vista.
