The Venice Neighborhood Council accepted petitions Tuesday, August 15th, signed by Venice residents requesting that their blocks be designated Overnight Parking Districts.

he council’s Overnight Parking District Committee presented the petitions.

According to Los Angeles Municipal Code 80.54, residents can petition the City of Los Angeles to restrict parking on their blocks from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. and install a residents-only permit parking program.

The council’s board of directors accepted the petitions and voted to pass them along to Los Angeles City Councilman Bill Rosendahl for acceptance and implementation.

Rosendahl’s Venice representative Mark Antonio Grant said the process would now involve Rosendahl accepting the petitions and writing a resolution to be presented to the Los Angeles City Council for ratification and implementation.

If Overnight Parking Districts are created in the blocks, signs will be posted and residents can apply for permits.

“This is the first wave of petitions and the petitioning process will continue to be ongoing,” said Georgann Abraham, co-chair of the parking district committee.
