The Venice Neighborhood Council has scheduled a special election meeting Tuesday, January 20th, to confirm or replace Karen Wolfe and Cynthia Rogers as new board members. The two community officers were appointed by the Neighborhood Council board of directors at its November 18th meeting and the confirmation vote is required by council bylaws.
The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Westminster Elementary School auditorium, 1010 Abbot Kinney Blvd., Venice.
The Neighborhood Council will also hear from applicants vying for appointment to a new board vacancy that opened last month. The appointment to fill that vacancy will be considered at the board’s February meeting.
Among other issues for consideration on the January 20th agenda are rescinding a motion made at a previous meeting that denies any proposed placement of “street furniture” in Venice. Rescinding the motion would initiate a review of street furniture placement requests required by Los Angeles City contracts.
Other items to be addressed include asking the city to take action on gridlock, implementing a moratorium on approval of billboards and signs, and properly accounting for funds reserved by law for parking relief and parks on the Westside.
Snacks and coffee will be provided at the meeting. Admission is free and open to the public.
