The Venice Neighborhood Council will hold an informational meeting Sunday, January 17th for those interested in running for a council position in the April 11th election.

The meeting will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Electric Lodge, 1416 Electric Ave., Venice. Attendance is free and open to everyone.

The event is intended to help candidates understand the Los Angeles city election process and neighborhood council campaign rules.

City Councilman Bill Rosendahl has been invited to speak at the meeting to describe his relationship with the neighborhood council and its role in city government. Current Venice Neighborhood Council board members will be on hand to talk about the responsibilities of their positions.

The election process will be reviewed to allow potential candidates to find out what they need to do to run for office. The agenda also includes a question and answer session, and meeting attendees will have a chance to meet with current council members.
