Los Angeles police are asking for the public’s help in locating a Venice woman who was reported missing more than a year ago.

Nancy Barrett, 53, was last seen at about 4:45 p.m. on July 14, 2010 in the area of her home in the 2600 block of Grand Canal Court in Venice, police said.

At the time of her disappearance Barrett had moved from her apartment to her car, which was parked in front her former home. She abandoned her car and possessions and left the area under unknown circumstances, police said.

Barrett has not been seen or heard from since, and her family is extremely concerned for her welfare and fear she may require medical attention.

She is described as a white woman with brown hair and brown eyes, 5-feet-8, and weighing approximately 150 pounds. Police said it is likely that Barrett’s hair is now extremely gray.

Barrett, who may have been wearing green cargo pants and a tan sweater at the time of her disappearance, may still be residing in the Venice Beach or Santa Monica areas, police said.

Anyone who has seen or may have information regarding Barrett’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Los Angeles Police Department Missing Persons Unit at (213) 996-1800, or (877) 527-3247 during non-business hours or on weekends.
