Jeff Olan, the owner of Jeff Olan Casting Incorporated, was honored by the City of Los Angeles for casting children from inner-city Los Angeles, Westchester, Marina del Rey, and Venice in a major Hollywood film.
The City of Los Angeles and the Venice-Marina Rotary Club presented Olan with a commendation at the San Fernando Valley Film Festival Saturday, March 18th.
In the summer of 2004, Olan cast 14 cheerleaders from Venice, Marina del Rey, Westchester and other areas. The young performers were coached by Venice-Marina Rotarian Gisele Rebeiro in the film Rebound.
The cheerleaders were originally cast to be extras in the film, which starred Martin Lawrence and was directed by Steve Carr.
Each cheerleader ended up with a contract and larger roles in the film.
In 1992, Olan co-founded and was one of the senior partners of the now-defunct Rainbow Casting.
Some of Olan’s personal casting credits with Rainbow include Pulp Fiction, The Net, Gunshy, The Good Girl, George of the Jungle, Jackie Brown, and My So Called Life.
In 2002, after the senior partners went separate ways, Olan opened his own casting agency.
