A free presentation designed to help the public avoid identity theft is planned for next week at the Courtyard By Marriott Hotel in the Villa Marina Marketplace near Marina del Rey.
The Westchester-LAX/Marina del Rey Chamber of Commerce, the Marina del Rey Community Advisory Committee to the County Sheriff’s Department and the Marina del Rey Marriott Hotel are sponsoring the event as a community service.
Sheriff’s Lt. Ronald D. Williams will lead the program and present “A Victim’s Guide for Identity Theft” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 14th, at the Courtyard By Marriott Hotel, 13840 Maxella Ave., in the Villa Marina Marketplace.
Identity theft is considered among the fastest growing crimes and those whose identity is stolen often have large losses to their bank accounts and other financial holdings.
Information on the presentation is available from Sheriff’s Lt. Greg Nelson, Marina del Rey Sheriff’s Station, (310) 823-7762, and Greg Wenger, members of the Sheriff’s Community Advisory Committee, (310) 578-1001.
