The grand reopening ceremony for Virginia Avenue Park in Santa Monica will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, December 4th, at the redesigned park, 2200 Virginia Ave., Santa Monica. Admission is free.
On-site parking for the event is limited. Free parking is available at Santa Monica College parking lot structures A and C, from where a free shuttle will take people to and from the park.
Santa Monica Big Blue Bus lines 7 and 11 also make stops at the park.
Virginia Avenue Park has been closed for two years for construction.
Festivities will begin with a ribbon cutting at the corner of Pico and Cloverfield Boulevards.
The Santa Monica Police Department Explorer Color Guard, Santa Monica Museum of Art, Santa Monica Public Library, and the Pico Youth and Family Center will host various activities for children, teens, and families.
Also present will be various nonprofit agencies, the Santa Monica High School Marching Band, the John Adams Middle School Jazz Band, and the Santa Monica College Emeritus Gospel Choir.
Other bands and choirs will provide music at a festival stage hosted by emcee Maria Elena Gaitan.
Arts and crafts workshops, dance programs, outdoor games, Pico Neighborhood vendors, and food will also be available.
