Nike is offering free weekly training runs in Santa Monica in preparation for the Nike Run Hit Remix five-mile race, to be run Sunday, September 24th, at the Los Angeles Coliseum.

During the training runs, runners can jump-start their training regimen, socialize with other runners and test-drive Nike+ equipment along with the latest footwear and vision gear.

The starting point for training runs scheduled at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays, September 6th, 13th and 20th, will be Yankee Doodles, 1410 Third Street Promenade, Santa Monica.

Coaches and pacers will be on hand at each run and refreshments will be provided.

Registration for Nike Run Hit Remix is not required for participation in the training runs.

The Nike Run Hit Remix five-mile race is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, September 24th, at the Los Angeles Coliseum.

Thousands of participants are expected in this year’s race.

The event will feature live musical performances by national acts that first became popular in the 1990s, including Digital Underground, Young MC, Vanilla Ice and De La Soul.

The last day to register for the Run Hit Remix event is Sunday, September 17th.
