The West Los Angeles Democratic Club held its elections for club officers in a February meeting with keynote speaker Michael Dukakis, former governor of Massachusetts and a 1988 presidential candidate.
In contested races, officers elected were Kelley Willis, president; Cara Robin, vice president of operations; and members at large Marcia Haskin, Suzanne Kite and Suzanne Scarmack.
Elected by acclamation in uncontested races were Greg Good, vice president of political affairs; Pauli Nuttle, treasurer; and Julie Goodman, secretary.
Ben DuPree was elected the fourth member at large at a separate executive board meeting.
With a mailing list of more than 2,500 people, the club is said to be one of the largest Democratic Clubs in Los Angeles.
Last year, the club organized three candidate forums for local, statewide and Congressional candidates.
The State Constitutional Candidates Forum in April last year gave more than 600 Democrats the opportunity to see Democratic Primary candidates for statewide office.
In 2005, club members worked with the Alliance for a Better California to help defeat all of the special election ballot initiatives.
Also in 2005, the club’s “Say No to Arnold” rally at Santa Monica College received national media coverage and a “Swat Arnold” rally helped generate hundreds of volunteers to work on the election.
