Trick-or-treat on the Triangle Saturday, Oct. 27th; Elks Holiday Boutique

The Academic Booster Club of Westchester High School will hold its 24th Academic Recognition Night Thursday, November 1st, to recognize the school’s highest academic achievers.
All students who have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher will be recognized. This year, more than 150 students will be honored.
A total of 46 Westchester seniors will be presented with red-and-white letterman-style jackets in recognition of their consistent achievement during their freshman-through-junior years.
This is a coveted achievement. Students work diligently throughout their high school careers in order to be honored on stage at “Jacket Night,” and they wear the jackets proudly as a mark of excellence throughout their senior year.
Underclassmen are also honored. Juniors will receive academic medallions. Sophomores will be presented with “Lamp of Learning” pins, and freshmen will be given certificates of congratulation.
Financial support for this program comes from fundraising efforts by the Academic Booster Club, including the Pancake Breakfast, car washes, and donations from area businesses and individuals.
The Academic Booster Club is seeking supporters to help offset the cost of the jackets and other awards. Each donation of $100 will subsidize one jacket, but the club’s fundraising also finances field trips and school programs that support academic achievement among all Westchester High students and allows the club to award scholarships to deserving graduating seniors based on grades, essays and other factors.
